By Sarah Fitzmaurice and Sophie Forbes

Strolling down the beach hand-in-hand Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale each showed off their impressive abdominal that any fitness model would be proud of.

The pair strutted their stuff showing off their trim and toned bodies as they spent the day with their sons Kingston and Zuma in Malibu yesterday.

Gwen, 41, displayed a toned figure that would put most women half her age to shame and dressed in a flowing maxi skirt and a crisscrossed bra top for the outing.

Abs-olutely fabulous: Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale showed off their matching toned abs as they took a stroll on the beach in Malibu yesterday

As ever the fashion designer was wearing bright red lipstick and she donned a pair of rounded sunglasses and a visor to shield the sun from her eyes.

Gavin, 45, also looked much younger than his years and showed off his sculpted physique wearing just a pair of black board shorts.

And it isn't just the parents who have an active lifestyle little Kingston and Zuma certainly had plenty of energy as they raced up and down the sands.

The boys were seen running around and even indulging in a bit of play fighting.

Fit family: The happy couple enjoyed the sunny day at the beach with their sons Kingston seen digging and Zuma

Gavin joined his boys helping them to build an impressive sandcastle and the male member of the family were seen digging away happily.

With all the running around Gwen ensured her boys were properly fueled for the day's activities and was seen feeding Zuma some lunch.

Following the beach outing the family enjoyed a quiet dinner together.

The No Doubt singer was dressed casually in a long flowing see-through skirt, a T-shirt and a baggy stripped cardigan.

Grand designs: Gavin was also seen helping their eldest son with his sand castle while Gwen kept a watchful eye on Zuma

She kept a tight hold on her eldest son who seemed to have more energy than his busy mum.

Gavin was left with the responsibility of carrying their sleepy looking youngest son back to the car as he yawned and leaned against his dad's shoulder.

Gwen recently headed back into the studio to record her first album with her band No Doubt in nearly a decade - and has to sacrifice an important date for her fashion line LAMB as a result.

The New York Post reports that the singer will probably miss the label's show during New York Fashion Week.

The paper said it would be the first time Stefani has had to miss her show since starting the brand.

A LAMB spokesperson said.‘Given the extraordinary demands of working on three fashion lines while also finishing a new record, it is hard to say whether she will be able to attend the actual presentation in New York next month.’

Talking to the U.S. issue of Elle magazine earlier this year, Gwen revealed she had big plans for her LAMB fashion range.

Family meal: After the beach trip earlier in the day the family enjoyed a low-key casual meal in Cross Creek Mall in Malibu

She said: ‘I’m not even close to being where I want it to be yet. [Fashion] is very, very hard to do well, but I’m learning.'

As previously reported by Mail Online, it will be the band's first release since Rock Steady in 2003.

Kingston's rockstar father Gavin, 43, has also been busy of late, and recently announced he was making a comeback with his band Bush after eight years.

After releasing their fourth album Golden State in October 2001, the group split up the following year.

They reformed last year and are now preparing to release The Sea of Memories, which will come out in the autumn and be followed up by a series of live shows.

What's your number? Gavin Rossdales's fatherly pride as Kingston gets his first phone number from a girl

By SOPHIE FORBES

Like father like son: Kingston Rossdale makes friends with an older girl at the Coldwater Canyon Park in Beverly Hills yesterday while on a day out with his father Gavin Rossdale

Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdales eldest son Kingston has always appeared to be a confident little boy.

And yesterday the four-year-old showed he had inherited his parents' charm as he sat chatting with a girl he met in the park.

The youngster even appeared to swap phone numbers with her while on a boys day out at the park with his father, Bush front man Rossdale.

At first, a nervous-looking Kingston needed some encouragement from his father who reassured him before he sat for a while and chatted with the young lady.

Initially the fashion forward tot, wearing jeans and a white vest, tried to hide behind his father who grinned and helped his son by talking to the girl himself.

First time: The little one came over all shy at first and had to get some encouragement from his father

Eventually Kingston built up the confidence to sit down on the wall next to her and begin talking.

In an adorable and touching moment in the young boy's life, the little girl and Kingston then appeared to swap phone numbers on their matching iPhones.

This is how you do it: Gavin, who has been married to Gwen Stefani for eight years, encouraged his son to chat to the young girl

After spending some time being pushed on the swings the father and son duo then headed back to their car to head home.

'That was a big moment...It was like watching him tie his shoes for the first time,' Gavin was over heard saying as he walked to the car.

Gavin, 44, has been married to No Doubt singer Gwen Stefani for eight years and the pair have another son, Zuma, who is two-and-a-half.

Boys time: Later the Bush front man pushed his son on the swings

Kingston's compassionate mother Gwen recently donated $1million to Save the Children’s Japan Earthquake-Tsunami Emergency Fund to help in the relief and recovery effort.

Stefani said: ‘I’ve been inspired by Japan for many years and have a true love, appreciation and respect for the Japanese people and their culture.

‘The disaster in Japan is beyond heartbreaking and I want to do anything I can to help.

‘I would never be able to make a gesture like this without the love and support of all the fans over all these years.'
