'Thank you for noticing you b****': Jamie Oliver's foulmouthed response to question about his weight gain

By Daily Mail Reporter

He's used to taking politicians and parents to task over healthy eating.

But when questioned about his own diet in Australia this week, Jamie Oliver wasn't quite so happy.

The celebrity chef, 36, bristled when asked by a female reporter if he had gained a few pounds recently and called her a 'b****'.

Bristling: Jamie Oliver hit out at a female journalist during an Q&A about responsible eating in Melbourne on Tuesday

When the father-of-four was questioned on whether he had filled out a bit he replied: 'I don't know. I am very healthy.

'Are you from a tabloid? Thank you for noticing, you b****.'

It wasn't clear whether or not Oliver was joking during the outburst.

However Oliver admitted he tried to watch his weight and worked out twice a week, but said there was room for improvement.

He explained: 'I do my best. Working in the food business is quite hard when someone is constantly asking you to try things.

Yuck! Oliver stands by a table full of junk food as he launches a campaign to tackle obesity

'I eat fresh. I train twice a week. I could definitely do better, but I am trying to do my best like most people when they hit 30.'

His U.S. spokeswoman Kimberly Yorio insisted her client's weight remained the same.

She told Australia's ABC News: 'I can say for a fact he hasn’t gained any weight. They were bad pictures.'

Healthy alternative: Oliver poses with Victorian state premier Ted Ballieau at the Ministry Of Food launch

At the Q&A session on responsible eating on Tuesday, Oliver admitted he was not thinking straight after 'a few drinks' the night before.

He said: 'I went out last night and had a few drinks after a very long day, (and) my brain did not quite understand that question.'

So they may go some way to explain his unguarded and candid response.

The Naked Chef is in Australia to launch his second Ministry of Food, in partnership with The Victorian Government and the Good Foundation, to attack state-wide obesity.

The new scheme will see AU$5million put towards helping teach cooking techniques and nutrition to participants in a larger attempt to attack obesity as a whole in the country.

Eating the wrong kind of school dinners? Jamie Oliver appears to have piled on the pounds as he attends launch Down Under

By Daily Mail Reporter

Eating the wrong kind of school dinners? Jamie Oliver appeared to have piled on the pounds as he attended the launch of his new Ministry of Food in Australia today

He's always been an advocate for healthy eating, especially when it comes to the meals served in schools.

But it seems Jamie Oliver may have been eating the wrong kind of school dinners in recent months, judging by pictures of the TV chef at the launch of the Ministry of Food in Melbourne, Australia, today.

The father-of-four looked noticeably plumper and appeared to have piled on the pounds since his last public event.

Jamie, 36, wore a pair of jeans, grey T-shirt and khaki shirt with trainers as he posed up for photographers in front of a table piled high with junk food.

Tackling the bigger issue: Jamie is in Australia to launch his new ministry, to try and get on top of obesity in the country

The new scheme will see AU$5million put towards helping teach cooking techniques and nutrition to participants in a larger attempt to attack obesity as a whole in the country.

Oliver said he was 'chuffed to bits' to be starting his second ministry in the country, following the success of the initiative in Ipswich, Queensland.

However, the launch wasn't entirely controversy free as Jamie also took the opportunity to lash out at Conservative Party health secretary Andrew Lansley, with whom he has been trading insults for months.

Jamie told reporters at the launch: 'We are lacking real leadership in Britain, sadly, and it's killing us - literally.

'That whole government - they lack any imagination.

'They haven't done anything that will even touch what's been announced today.'

He added that he hoped his new scheme would help cut down on the amount of obesity in the country.

Jamie said: 'I don't really know of anyone that can threaten of an early death by not doing their geography homework.

'But if kids aren't taught about food, where it comes from and how it affects their body, then in essence we are doing them a massive disservice.

'In light of the statistics of bad health today, to not do anything would be child abuse.'

Don't forget Buddy Bear! Jamie Oliver and Jools make parenting look easy as they take their four children to the park

By Daily Mail Reporter

Family day out: Jamie and Jools Oliver take their children Poppy, nine, Daisy, eight, Petal, two, and six-month-old Buddy Bear to Primrose Hill in London

Having four young children is a handful for any couple but Jamie Oliver and his wife Jools made it look easy during a day at the park.

The pair took Poppy, nine, Daisy, eight, Petal, two, and six-month-old Buddy Bear to Primrose Hill in London for a family day out.

The chef, 35, held onto Petal as his two older daughters rode down the hill on their scooters.

Jools, 36, kept a firm grip on baby Buddy as they strolled through the North London park.

Petal was having a great time with her doting father as he lifted her upside down and kissed her on the cheek.

The couple's relaxing day at the park came as the chef spoke out about the government’s investments in school food.

School dinner prices increased by 17 per cent yesterday, with charges expected to rise to £2.60 in some areas, threatening Oliver's campaign to encourage pupils to eat healthier meals.

Oliver said over the weekend that he hoped the government would continue to invest in ‘quality school food and the integral support and training of kitchen staff'.

He said: ‘It’s the long-term health, happiness and productivity of the future of our country that’s at risk.

‘I believe any compromise on a child’s right to a healthy school lunch or their access to learning about food… is child abuse on an unimaginable scale,’ he wrote in a Sunday newspaper.

But the Department for Education said: ‘We make no apologies for giving headteachers complete freedom over their budgets – they know what’s best for pupils, not ministers.’

Oliver’s TV series in 2005, Jamie’s School Dinners, led to the Feed Me Better drive to improve lunches.
