Up fur a laugh? From delirious dogs to maniac monkeys, we reveal the funniest animal photos of 2012

By Daniel Miller

They're the funniest animal photos of 2012, the maniac moggies and marvelous mutts who have brightened up our year with their utterly barmy exploits

And it's not just household pets which have brought a smile to out faces - the dogs and cats are joined by a host of bonkers animals including horses, monkeys and even a goat.

Image sharing website Acidcow.com has amassed a huge selection of animal pictures throughout the course of the year and here we've picked out some of the very best for you to enjoy.

Long arm of the paw: A playful pooch pops out of its owner's top in what looks like a science experiment gone wrong

Seductive eyes: A touch of mascara really brought out the best in this cheerful chap with a pair of hilarious drawn-on brows

Fluffy friend: This long-haired kitten might appear a bit stuck-up but its little owner loves it all the same

Horsing about: A young girl enjoys a laugh with her four-legged friend

There's the dog that looks just dandy with a set of painted on eyebrows, a playful pup who can't wait to show off its pole-dancing skills and another, which when viewed from a certain angle looks like quite something else entirely.

We've got some maniac monkeys too who don't appear particularly happy after hitching a lift on top of tourist during a water ride.

And hats off to the horses who've had a sterling year whether trying on the latest blue jeans to just enjoying a good lark with their owners.

And if there is anyone out there seriously considering getting a goat for a household pet we've got just the picture to put you off.

So put your own two paws together for all our four legged-friends and remember to keep those pictures coming in during 2013.

Camera shy: This rather plump cat does not appear particularly pleased about having its picture taken

A cheeky squirrel enjoys a slice of peperoni pizza while a playful pup shows off its pole dancing skills

Best of mates: This lazy hound dog was in a need of a little snooze and he found the perfect spot to snuggle up on his buddy's back

This man appears quite calm about having a pair of manic monkeys on his shoulder, the monkeys however are not so relaxed

Hair of the dog: A back-combed bouffant was the must-have style for this pampered pooch

It takes all sorts: As this rather unusual picture proves. We're not quite sure what's going on with the doll, or the cringe-worthy Christmas jumpers for that matter

A little squiffy: It must have been a heavy night for this lightweight Chihuahua but at least its got a friend to nurse it through the morning

Dozing off: This pooch on the left looks like its struggling to stay awake while the innocent little dog on the right appears to be quite something else entirely when viewed from a certain angle

Goats are not your normal household pets and, judging by the behaviour of this example, for good reason

This horse looks delighted at finally having found the perfect pair of blue jeans

Britain's biggest family just got bigger: Mother gives birth to her 16th child and she already wants another (just don't ask about their food bill)

-Sue Radford and husband Noel have nine sons and seven daughters since Casper was born last month - after a 16-minute labour
-The 37-year-olds spend £250 a week on food - and are NOT on benefits
-Together they run a bakery in Morecambe, Lancashire
-Each day the family eats three loaves of bread, two boxes of cereal and 18 pints of milk while
-Average supper includes 16 pork chops, 15lbs of potatoes, three cabbages and 30 carrots
-Mr and Mrs radford have just become grandparents for the first time

By Matt Blake

Baker's wife Sue Radford knows what it is to have a bun in the oven - she has just given birth to her 16th child.

The 37-year-old supermum now has nine sons and seven daughters since welcoming little Casper into the world just over a month ago - in a labour that took just 16 minutes.

But incredibly, being Britain's biggest family alone is not enough for Sue, who told husband Noel as soon as she came home from hospital: 'I want another.'

The couple, who together run a bakery in Morecambe, Lancashire, are completely self-sufficient and receive no state benefits.

Big family: (1) Chris, 23 (2) Sophie, 18 (3) Chloe, 17 (4) Jack, 15 (5) Daniel, 13 (6) Luke, 11 (7) Millie, 10 (8) Katie, 9 (9) James, 8 (10) Ellie, 7 (11) Aimee, 6 (12) Josh, 4 (13) Max, 3 (14) Tilly May, 2 (15) Oscar, 1 (16) Casper, 1 month

They live in a nine-bedroom former care home in the town which has an industrial-sized washing machine and a giant fridge to keep the mountains of food the family get through every day.

Food costs the couple £250 a week. Each day the family eats three loaves of bread, two boxes of cereal and 18 pints of milk while an average supper can include 16 pork chops, 15lbs of potatoes, three cabbages and 30 carrots.

At home: They live in a nine-bedroom former care home in the town which has an industrial-sized washing machine and a giant fridge to keep the mountains of food the family get through every day

Bundle of joy: Casper was born on October 3 after a 16-minute labour before they bought him back to their family house, a nine-bedroom former care home

Get in line: Each day the family eats three loaves of bread, two boxes of cereal and 18 pints of milk while and average supper can include 16 pork chops, 15lbs of potatoes, three cabbages and 30 carrots

'I just love being a mummy. We are so lucky,' Sue told The Sun. 'I get very emotional when I see the children all together.

'I know people stare. Some think they won't get the attention they need, but people don't realise how dedicated we are... And maybe we'll be lucky enough to have more.'

The couple began their family unexpectedly early when they were teenagers and she was still at school. For other couples this might have spelled disaster, but not for the Radfords, whose eldest son Christopher is now 23.

What a load: James, eight, Katie, nine, Ellie, seven, Aimee, 11, and Chloe, 17, with their washing at the family's industrial-sized machine

In each other's footsteps: Food to feed the brood costs the couple some £250 a week

Sue finished school and they married when she was 18, planning to have 'perhaps another one or two' children.

Once Sophie, 18, and Chloe, 17, had arrived, however, the couple discovered they were enjoying parenthood so much that they just kept going.

It was after the arrival of Jack, 15, and while Mrs Radford was pregnant with Daniel, 13, that the couple found their current house - a nine-bedroom Victorian former old people's home that was in need of work.

And sure enough it wasn't long before with each new room they decorated, there were children to share it.

In quick succession they had Luke, 11, Millie, ten, Katie, nine, James, eight, Ellie, seven, and Aimee, six.

Then, after a brief gap, came Josh, four, Max, three, and Tilly May, two, followed.
A year ago Sue gave birth to Oscar before Casper was born last month at a healthy 8lb and 8oz.

Mr Radford works hard running the bakery, which is just a short drive from home, while Mrs Radford helps out whenever she's not on maternity leave.

And their extended family just got bigger after Sophie gave birth to Sue and Noel's first grandchild Daisy.

Swaying to the South Pacific beat: Duke and Duchess of Cambridge don grass skirts to join in tribal dance on royal tour

•Kate and William touch down in remote island cluster of Tuvalu
•They donned grass skirts to take part in a traditional welcome dance
•They are carried from private jet on thrones behind procession of performers
•Royal couple had previously snorkelled and had private dinner before flying
•Stop in Tuvalu is the last leg of their Diamond Jubilee Tour

By Rebecca English, Royal Correspondent IN THE SOLOMON ISLANDS

Swaying in time to the music, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge became true South Pacific royalty today when they donned colourful skirts and danced the night away at a gathering of island chiefs.

The couple are currently on the island of Tuvalu, one of the most remote spots on earth, to mark the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.

Until now they have been members of Tuvalu's royal family in name only - but after their display at an inter-island singing celebration earlier they became fully fledged members of the community.

Shake their hips: The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge donned grass skirts and took part in a traditional welcome dance today on the last leg of their South Pacific tour

Traditional dance: The Royal couple seem to be enjoying the dance, known as Fatele after arriving in Tuvalu

Star of the show: Princess Kate joined local women in costume during the dance

William and Kate shimmied, swayed their hips and moved their arms as they joined six island communities of the South Pacific nation at a fatele or local dance where groups try to out sing and dance each other in a friendly rivalry.

The Duchess looked the more natural and got to her feet time after time to join the performers, while William left it till in later in the evening to try out his moves.

At one stage, however, both had colourful skirts tied around them to make them really feel the part.

Natural performer: Kate got to her feet and joined in many times during the dance

Looking the part: Kate got involved in the South Pacific tradition

Spraying dancers: Kate performed another tradition where dignitaries sprayed dancers with perfume as a mark of respect and gratitude

Another tradition associated with the event is for dignitaries to spray perfume or scent on dancers they like as a mark of respect and gratitude.

Armed with a bottle of Paul Smith London for Men, both royals liberally sprayed the performers.

The Duke and Duchess clearly enjoyed themselves, laughing and joking with each other.

At the end, William summed it up as 'good, really good - an amazing evening' when asked by Tapugao Falefou, a senior government official who helped organise the royal visit, if he had enjoyed himself.

The rousing event capped a busy but exciting day for the royals who were welcomed with a greeting not seen since the Queen last set foot on the Funafuti, Tuvalu's main island in 1982.

The couple later toured the village in their carriage that had been fitted to a large flat bed truck that flew William's royal standard from its cabin.

On tour: Kate spoke to students at Nauti Primary School on Tuvalu

William donned a wreath of flowers during the visit to the local primary school

Centre of attention: The couple took a tour of the primary school as well as a university and an exhibition showcasing traditional houses and crafts from the islands

It was part of a motorcade that featured a number of 4X4 vehicles and at the front and back had an escort of policemen without helmets riding small motorbikes.

Their tour took them to a school and a university and to an exhibition showcasing traditional houses and crafts from across a number of the islands.

But the highlight of the visit was the rousing end to the night when the island communities sang in glorious unison to the enjoyment of the royal couple.

Before they arrived at the hall the royals enjoyed a banquet fit for two kings at a nearby venue that also saw the chiefs and politicians enjoy the sumptuous meal.

Table talk: William and Kate also spoke to locals at the University of the South Pacific

Rooney hooker Jenny Thompson reveals she is pregnant - and the father could be one of FIVE possible men

•Former escort, 23, 'expecting baby girl on Christmas Day'
•Footballer Mario Balotelli and TV dwarf Josh Bennett 'might be worried', Thompson

By Larisa Brown

Former escort, Jenny Thompson, has revealed she is six months pregnant but she will have to do a DNA test to make sure the identity of the father

Former escort Jenny Thompson, who famously enjoyed a sexual liaison with Wayne Rooney, has revealed she is pregnant.

But it is claimed Miss Thompson, 23, who admits sleeping with more than 100 men, said she will have to take a DNA test to confirm the identity of the father.

The former vice girl, who claimed she bedded Manchester United star Rooney while his wife Coleen was five months pregnant with their son Kai, is already six months pregnant.

She told The Sun newspaper: ‘Quite a few men will be trying to work out if it is them.’

She also admitted it ‘made her laugh’ to think different men would be trying to decide if they were the father.

Her baby girl is due on Christmas Day. A Sun newspaper source said the mother-to-be believed the father was one of five possible candidates.

Miss Thompson is renowned for her flings with superstar football stars, including Rooney’s Manchester City rival Mario Balotelli.

She said Balotelli surpassed Rooney in 'every way' but that he also impressed her with his intelligence and sense of humour.

The pair met five times and had sex with her twice behind the back of Balotelli's girlfriend Raffaella Fico.

She rated Balotelli as one of her top 10 best lovers but was less complimentary about Rooney, who she claimed in 2010 paid her £1,200 a night for sex.

Shortly before Miss Thompson began her fling with Balotelli, 22, she spent the night with television dwarf Josh Bennett after bumping into him in Manchester.

She said sleeping with the 4ft5in actor was a ‘big mistake’ because it was ‘one-night stand’.

Mr Bennett, who appeared in Channel 4 reality show Seven Dwarves, said she had been impressed by his appearances in the Harry Potter films and that it was ‘obvious’ she fancied him.

Speaking about the father of her unborn child, Miss Thompson added: ‘If they work it out they’ll know. Mario and Josh might be worried – they will have to do the maths.’

Miss Thompson said that Rooney, left, had paid her £1,200 a night for sex while his wife Coleen, right was five months pregnant with their son Kai

Miss Thompson said Bennett did not compare to Manchester City star Mario Balotelli, who she slept with behind his girlfriend Raffaella Fico's back

She said she did a pregnancy test two months ago after feeling ‘bloated’, but it came back negative.

It was only when she went to her GP after she had grown bigger that she was given the shocking news.

Miss Thompson, who signed up to an escort agency at the age of 19 under the name ‘Juicy Jeni’, claimed Rooney slipped away from his £4.5million mansion in Cheshire to meet her at Manchester’s five-star Lowry Hotel seven times – including for a threesome with fellow prostitute Helen Wood, 25.

As the alleged sexual liaison happened in 2009, Rooney cannot be the father of Miss Thompson's unborn child.

It's Solomon Islands style for William and Kate as they ditch their designer gear and slip into something more comfortable

•Kate makes last minute-change of wardrobe ahead of banquet by wearing strapless dress given to her by the couple's hosts

By Rebecca English, Royal Correspondent

The Duchess of Cambridge had a last-minute change of wardrobe when she ditched plans to wear to the banquet a dress she had brought from London and chose instead one that she had just been given by her Solomon Islands hosts.

She made the switch just half an hour before the banquet when she walked into her room at the hotel in Honiara and discovered that the government had left her a strapless dress with a bright pink and orange batik design.

'She tried it on, she loved it and she is wearing it,” said a royal aide. The dress came from a shop called Island Print.

VIP treatment: The Royal couple were attending a reception hosted by Governor-General Frank Kabui

In keeping with island tradition the Duke also wore a colourful shirt. His also was a gift from his hosts – but contrast with his wife he knew it was coming because the Solomon Islands had gone so far as to check his size in advance.

The Duke was clearly taken with his new blue shirt. In a formal visit on the Governor-General, Sir Frank Kabui, the Duke told him: 'I have my shirt on. What do you think? Looks OK?'

The couple were also obviously struck by the warmth and enthusiasm of their welcome to Honiara. The Duke told Sir Frank that there had been 'a lot of energy, a lot of screaming… it was great.'

The Duchess told the Governor-General’s wife Lady Grace: 'It was a beautiful service earlier. All the singing – it was lovely.'

As a sign of what a good mood the couple were in, as the couple joined the diners at the island feast they agreed to pose for pictures for the waiting British press photographers. 'As you asked so nicely,' said the Duke, 'of course.'

During the dinner the couple were entertained by musicians including a choir and the Haguelu Pan Pipers, who performed on a stage clad in grass skirts with white body paint and beads around their heads.

In his speech the Duke tried his hand at pidgin English. 'Mifala barava Tagio tumas,' he said – 'We thank you very, very much.'

Describing their visit as 'a great thrill'. He said: “This land is the most beautiful place imaginable, and the people of the Solomon islands are amongst the most gracious and friendly we have ever met. The Queen told us this would be so, and as with so much else in her long reign, Her Majesty was absolutely right.

'Catherine and I were overwhelmed with the warmth of the reception we received this afternoon. Our expectations were pretty high after what the Queen had told us, but nothing had prepared us for the welcome we received.'
